about

Story of the song:
Well, that's a long one for sure. When I started the Minotaur Project I had the idea that I will invite as many friends to collaborate as I can. Then I moved to France, most of my friends stayed in Hungary, which made it even more difficult to organize something like this. Originally I planned to do a complete band-lineup with this song, with a group I worked with from distance couple of years ago, but then I decided to keep it simple. So I made a demo for Echo Mirage, and as I moved forward, in about a month, as always, I considered the song finished.
This was before I started to work on the ones I did with Cobus - so this song was put aside for that time. Then, about two months passed, I listened to it a lot of times, and wasn't really satisfied with it - dynamics weren't there, it was a bit lifeless all-in-all. After the three songs I made I felt that I need someone else in order to give some highlight to the song.
That's when I Matthew got into the picture, we knew each other from a former group, and I still remember being influenced by his play from many years ago - so I invited him. Still among the best prog drummers I know, so it was a real pleasure to play bass over his drums, since the whole song got some purpose, it's going exactly where I planned it to go. I think you can see we had a great time, although we have about 800 km's and the La Manche channel between each other, and I don't think we really met in the last three years :)

The main conclusion: from now on, I will do at least one invitation for each song. Matthew brought up some ideas I've never dreamed of, some influences I never had, and a communication in music I hadn't had in a long time (with Cobus we had it, but this time the song is mine from scratch) - I think even if this song is unquestionably a Minotaur Project song, some details he brought in which made it very special. And that I intend to keep having.

Echo Mirage is the 4th part of the Solaris project I do this year - it's about the realisation of our destruction of the home-planet, and the decision to spread our kind to another one. The fifth one, "Escape Solaris" will be divided into three chapters, but you'll see in time :)
